GSM and Verizon Moto G Gets Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 ROM

Well what do we have here. It looks like the Moto G does have somewhat of a developer community. The Moto G is a fantastic device, especially when you see the price tag. I mean a 4.5-inch 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon 400, and a 2050mAh battery for just $179 for the 8GB and $199 for the 16GB? That’s crazy. But now, there’s even more to love about the Moto G. Thanks to XDA member dhacker29. There’s now an unofficial build of CyanogenMod on the Moto G.

Now this isn’t the first build of CM11 to hit for the Moto G, it does appear to be the only build that’s stable enough to actually use. According to the thread over on XDA, it appears that everything is working. That includes calls, data, camera and media. But we should warn you, that this is an early build, so there is quite possibly still a lot of bugs to be worked out. Which is expected.

Even better is that this build supports all three versions of the Moto G. That’s the XT1028 for Verizon, XT1032 for the international GSM version and the XT1034 for the US GSM version. Which is pretty great that you’ve got support for the CDMA version of a device all in one ROM. Remember that the Moto G is a pretty much stock-Android experience, so most people won’t care about flashing ROMs. And battery life and performance are already really great on this device, so for many people, they may not need a custom ROM on their device. However there are users out there that love having CyanogenMod on their device, and it’s nice to see that now the Moto G has a build of CyanogenMod 11, even if it is unofficial. Hopefully we’ll see the CyanogenMod team officially support it soon.

How many of you are rocking the Moto G? Any of you thinking of giving this ROM a spin on your new Moto G? Let us know in the comments below.
